Venus Williams used her social media account to post a heartfelt message to her followers, as well as a flashback photo of her and her father.

Tennis has been a family sport for the Williams sisters since they were little. Even the Williams girls’ father, Richard Williams, encouraged them to take up sports and played a big role in their journey.

Venus Williams celebrates her 28 years of tennis with an emotional message

Venus Williams made her professional debut at the young age of just 14 in 1994. The tennis player competed in the West Classic competition in Oakland, California, as part of her professional debut. The tennis pro posted a series of memories from her beginning days on social media to commemorate this special event and to reconnect with her followers.

The seven-time Grand Slam champion shared an emotional message addressing her debut day. She wrote, “On this day 28 years ago, I made my debut in professional tennis. I never imagined 28 years later what @serenawilliams and I would experience in this sport. I can recount the wins and the losses, but in the end, it was always about the pursuit of my best self. Everyday, win lose or draw. I can look back with no regrets. It’s all been worth it.”

In those pictures, she shared stories of her first press interaction before she played her debut match and a beautiful message for her father. She shared a picture of her father ‘King’ Richard, hugging her on her debut match.

She captioned the father-daughter duo picture as “After my first win! October 31, 1994. Dad has been there every step of the way!” The former world number one’s way of showing affection is definitely winning hearts.

The tennis icon has won 23 Grand Slam trophies, including seven major singles championships. Of those 23, she won 14 of them in doubles alongside her sister. She and Serena Williams were among the top double tennis players of their day.
