In their over a two-decades-long illustrious career, the Williams sisters created some amazing and impeccable records. Recently, their childhood coach Rick Macci spoke about the game and development of two sisters in a Spotify podcast.

Serena took longer to develop – Rick Macci
Rick Macci saw the development of two of the greatest athletes closely. However, he knew from the beginning itself that Serena will be huge, once she becomes more mature. Macci recited that their father Richard Williams also shared the same thoughts.

“You know, Serena wasn’t as mature. And this is a great lesson for any parent coach. You know, you can’t judge a book by its cover. You know, at a young age, Venus was this more mature, Serena took longer to develop. But with Serena, she had Brains and all the time in the world. That’s number one. It’s like she knew where the ball was going before you did, but the wildcard like anything else in life. She was just a brutal, brutal competitor. Even at a young age. She was a little Pitbull, but she wasn’t that mature, but you could see by 12 or 13. There was something special there.” He said.

However, taking nothing away from Venus, he praised the parents for raising two superstars at the same time.

“Maybe if there was no Venus, there’d be no Serena. So it kind of goes hand in hand. But listen, at the end of the day, he not only had one, but he had two and they lived in the same house. So you know, that’s amazing.” He concluded.
Serena Williams confirms playing Wimbledon 2022
To the delight of her fans, 23-time Grand Slam winner, Serena Williams recently confirmed that she will take part in the upcoming Wimbledon Championship. There was a lot of doubt surrounding her availability at the tournament, since the entry list didn’t have her name.

However, the 40-year-old surprised her fans by announcing a wild card entry to the grass-court Grand Slam. With 23 major titles, Serena is on the verge of equalling the record for most Grand Slam titles.
