However, the ‘Ice Maiden’ also criticized the current generation for being disrespectful while listening to music.

For a couple of decades, she ruled the tennis world. She earned the name ‘Ice Maiden’ for keeping her composure both on and off the court. The legendary tennis player has 18 Grand Slam victories to her name.

Back in 2016, the 18-time Grand Slam champion opened up about the role music played as a part of her pre and post-match ritual and also how the role of music has advanced over the years. Additionally, she talked about a habit that she disliked about the present generation.

According to the tennis legend, music used to help her relax before a match. Listening to music was very relaxing, and it helped with her game pressure. Further, she drew a parallel to how the current generation might be using music as an escape with their headphones on while entering the arena for their matches.

She said, “For [current players], it’s relaxing them or energizing them, depending on what kind of music they like to help them chill, but I think it’s almost a little disrespectful when you walk out on the court and the fans are appreciating you, welcoming you, and you have your headphones on.”
