The former American tennis player, Chris Evert, is hailed as one of the best female athletes in the history of the sport. She has reached unprecedented heights during her glorious tennis journey. However, the 18-time Grand Slam winner also faced many hardships during her formative years as a tennis player.

In one of her podcast appearances in June 2020, Evert talked about the struggles of growing up in a dominant family. Meanwhile, she also revealed the amount of toxicity faced by successful athletes.
Chris Evert talked about her dominant father
The American tennis legend, Chris Evert, was featured in a podcast where she talked about her dominant family. She pointed out her father, Jimmy Evert, and stated that he was a very strict disciplinarian.

The 18 grand slam title winner was not allowed to voice her opinions while growing up in a dominant family. She further talked about how the athletes have faced a great amount of toxicity despite their glorious success and achievements.
Evert stated, “And I was brought up in a household that we couldn’t say or disagree with our parents on that couldn’t disagree with my dad at all. He was pretty dominant father and very loving, but we basically couldn’t have an opinion and we that’s the way cannons were in those days. And there’s a lot of fear involved growing up in my house.”

Evert added, “So it’s how you grow up and it’s also been and then when you’re out in the world is how people treat you and quite frankly, when you’re a star, everybody Pat’s you on the back and tells you how great deal or all the time that’s that can’t be good for you either. There’s a lot of toxicity out there that that that occurs or happens around famous, successful people.”

Evert advised Roger Federer to start a tennis academy
The American tennis legend, Evert, is one of the biggest fans of the Swiss Maestro, Roger Federer. She has always admired Federer for his domination of the tour over the years. Off the court, Evert also regards the Swiss tennis legend a gentleman.

The 18 Grand Slam title winner, Chris Evert, was again impressed by Federer when she saw him in a coaching role, during the Laver Cup. The Swiss Maestro was spotted giving some tips to Novak Djokovic as a coach. Evert was impressed by this and she stated that Federer should start his own tennis academy.
