Venus Williams made her singles comeback at the Citi Open 2022. Unfortunately, she could not get ahead and had to face defeat. The player talked about sister Serena Williams in the post-match conference.

Both the sisters are back on the tour and are practicing for the hard-court season. Venus Williams talked about practicing with her sister and how playing with or against her on the court feels now as compared to when they were kids.

Venus Williams talks about practicing and playing with Serena Williams

Venus Williams after her defeat at the first round of the Citi Open talked about her sister in the press conference. When a reporter posed a question as to how she got in shape for the match and how practicing with her sister helped her for it. She replied, “I think it was a real thrill for the crowd to see us hit together. We don’t do it often at tournaments, so…”

More than she was happy for the crowd who was excited to see the legendary sisters play together. She added, “I think more than anything, it was just very exciting for the tournament.”

Another question was regarding how playing with Serena Williams is different now relative to when they were kids. Seven-time grand slam champion pointed it towards kinship and attachment.

She said, “I think we just fall into step.” Furthermore, she added, “We’ve been playing with each other since we were kids, so… It’s just something that we’ve always done.” Rebecca Marino defeated the player in her singles comeback after a long time.

How is younger Williams gearing up for the hard-court major?

The six-time US Open champion is training hard to play her best at the hard court major. She is participating in the National Bank Open in Toronto.

Following that, she will also play at the Cincinnati Masters which she has won twice in her career. The 23-time grand slam champion is not leaving any leaf unturned for bringing the 24th grand slam title home.
