American former tennis star Coco Vandeweghe dropped an amazing praise for America’s rising tennis prodigy Coco Gauff. Not to forget, Gauff started her 2024 with a bang after her victory against Claire Liu. This American tennis prodigy held a great 2023 season as well with her incredible performance. Now following Vandeweghe’s comments, it seems like Coco Gauff has added another former tennis star to her fan base.

In a recent interview, Vandeweghe had nothing but praise for Coco Gauff. She said- “what I love here is Coco, just taking it to the young 16 year old and look at this flare. You gotta love a little flare out a Coco Gauff’s game. It’s so fun to watch her play.” Following Vandeweghe’s statement it was clear that this former tennis star was keeping a close eye on Gauff’s matches.

In fact, referring to Gauff’s recent victory against Brenda Fruhvirtova, she added-“But she really had a difficult task early on in this first set, Brenda coming out redlining absolutely redlining to try and match Coco for pace for athleticism, and just really couldn’t sustain it through the end part of the first set. And the second set Coco just really absolutely ran away with it.”

Elaborating on Gauff’s prowess, Vandeweghe added, “You could see physically that Brenda wasn’t able to sustain her level and just easy winners easy pickings from Coco and this is a great match to push her forward into this tournament to defend her title.”

Tennis legend Chris Evert has always believed in Gauff

Not just Coco Vandeweghe but Chris Evert had also complimented Gauff. In one of her tweets in 2020, Evert wrote, “I believe we have a future leader, role model, and activist at the young age of 16, she is showing up in the fight against racial prejudice. She could champion human rights and still be a champion in tennis. I believe she can be an inspiration and do it all.”
