Fans recently reminisced about the last doubles match of Serena Williams’ 27-year-long career. She played with her sister Venus Williams in the US Open 2022 against the pair of Lucie Hradecka and Linda Noskova. They lost the match and disappointed fans were quick to troll Venus for her performance in the match. The Williams sisters were one of the most dominant duos in the history of the sport, winning an incredible 14 Grand Slam titles. Thus, when they face early exits in tournaments, even at the twilight of their careers, fans will be distraught.

The Czech duo won the match in straight sets of 7-6(5), 6-4. According to some recent tweets, fans are still very unhappy with Venus’ performance, as they blamed her for the result of the match.

A fan also pointed out that Serena wanted to leave the court as soon as possible, as she also had to prepare for her singles third round match against Ajla Tomljanović.

However, one good thing that has come out for the fans of Venus out of this recap is some Serena fans realizing that Venus is not the only one to blame.

Fans have also gone so far as to say that they were happy that Serena lost the match, as it gave her more time to focus on singles. In what became the most viewed match in ESPN history, Serena Williams lost her last singles in the US Open 2022 to Ajla Tomljanović. Although fans are expecting Serena’s return to the WTA Tour, she hasn’t revealed anything with surety about picking up the racquet again.
