Jessica Pegula vs Daria Kasatkina: Preview
The American star didn’t have the most ideal beginning to the 2024 season. Among the favorites to win the United Cup, her team lost in the group stage. Additionally, she managed to win one and lost the other match as far as her singles commitment was concerned.

However, she has come back strongly in Adelaide. Pegula is the second seed here and began her campaign in the second round after having a bye in the opening round. She was stretched to three sets before defeating compatriot Bernarda Pera. Similarly, her quarterfinal match against Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova went right to the distance, as Pegula prevailed 6-7 (1), 7-5, 6-4.
On the other hand, Kasatkina has had a simpler path to the last four, comparatively. She began her campaign with a straight-set victory over Claire Liu of the USA. Subsequently, she had a three-set victory over fellow Russian Anna Kalinskaya. In the quarterfinals, her opponent, Laura Siegemund withdrew, handing her a walkover.
Pegula vs Kasatkina: Head-to-Head
Both Pegula and Kasatkina are among the top players on the WTA tour and strong rivals on the court. They have faced off against each other twice before, with Pegula prevailing on both occasions. Interestingly, their first meeting came way back in 2021 in Rome where the American star won the match in straight sets. Last year, they played each other in Tokyo, with Pegula losing just one game in that match. Given her past dominance over Kasatkina, Pegula looks a strong favorite in the semifinal battle between them.
