Over the years, multiple players have had the title of the most energetic on-court personality; from Novak Djokovic and Caroline Wozniacki in the past, to Frances Tiafoe and Carlos Alcaraz in the current era. Last year, after Tiafoe’s victory over Rafael Nadal, Coco Gauff hailed the energy of the Arthur Ashe Stadium. Seems like Gauff has now used the energy in her favor as she is also letting the crowd enjoy the ebb and flow of the game at the US Open.

The American tennis star has secured a place in the fourth round of the US Open against comeback star, Caroline Wozniacki. But what caught everyone’s attention was how she did it in style, bringing the crowd’s energy with her on the court.

Coco Gauff proudly looks back upon her first-time achievement of riling up the crowd at the US Open

The 19-year-old tennis star knows she is undoubtedly one of the favorites for the US Open this year. Therefore, she decided to take the home crowd on a journey of thrill and excitement; the same emotions she feels on the court. Gauff talked about the energy she borrowed and gave back to the crowd during her third-round match.

During her post-match press conference, she stated, “It wasn’t that I was wanting more. They were giving me enough.” On the other hand, Gauff was thinking about the crowd. She stated, “I think people like when the player does that. I like when the player does that watching. I’m like, Okay, let me do it.”

However, it was not the first time she felt like riling up the crowd. She stated, “There’s been times in the past when I wanted to do it. I don’t know, I just didn’t do it.” But then she saw other players doing it too, and it gave her the motivation to do the same.
