The British tennis legend, Sue Barker undoubtedly managed to delight the entire tennis community while ardently pursuing her different stints. After putting down her racket in 1984, the former tennis player got inclined towards a broadcasting role for BBC. And, for almost three decades, the former world No. 3 player was cherished by a slew of fans for her coverage of the Wimbledon Championships.

However, the 67-year-old tennis legend finally bid adieu to the broadcasting role in the previous season while choosing her compatriot, Clare Balding as her replacement for the recently concluded British Slam. Balding, on the other hand, was recently labeled a ‘noticeable downgrade’ at the prestigious event, and the fans are now calling for her to be replaced by another prominent figure.

Fans want the British tennis legend to fill the ‘Wimbledon’ void left by her compatriot
After the former world No. 3 player’s emotional farewell in the previous season, her compatriot, Clare Balding was given the broadcasting duties of the recently concluded British Slam. But, the 52-year-old BBC broadcaster recently became a target of scrutiny from the public, who were quite disappointed with this season’s coverage of the prestigious event.
According to an exclusive report from Express, Balding along with seasoned commentators Andrew Castle and Tim Henman, were labeled a ‘noticeable downgrade’ by the tennis community. Fans believe that the current edition of the BBC coverage couldn’t meet the high expectations set when the 67-year-old iconic presenter was in the role.

Notably, the fans are demanding that Balding should be replaced by another prominent figure, Annabel Croft. The former British tennis player has become an overwhelming fan favorite because of her impressive on-court interviews and studio punditry.
Now, it will be interesting to see if Croft will become a long-term replacement and successor for Barker, who was recently hailed at the Centre Court.

There is no doubt that the entire tennis community sorely missed the iconic presenter at the British Slam. It was quite evident when she received an incredible ovation and applause from the spectators at the Centre Court.
