Iga Swiatek aims to steal the spotlight in the French Open final against late-bloomer Jasmine Paolini! Everyone has been impressed by the Italians’s incredible trip to the final. After originally siding with the first-time Grand Slam finalist, Serena Williams‘ old coach recently changed sides to defend the world number one against a derogatory comment made by a fan.

After the Polish tennis player’s victory against the 20-year-old American, a tennis enthusiast took to his social media account to talk a little negatively about the four-time Grand Slam champion. He wrote, “Swiatek will be the death of women’s tennis for me.”

Looking into that without wasting any moment, Rennae Stubbs commented on the post to give it back, in her own way. She replied, saying, “Well, I feel badly for you.” When it came to looking down on a tennis player, the Australian tennis coach left her French Open final preferences out and defended the pole as a part of this sport.

On the other hand, she posted on X and talked about how things can change in the final. Apparently, she congratulated the Italian for defeating the 17-year-old Russian prodigy Mirra Andreeva in straight sets, but she also warned the world number one about the impending battle.

Following the exciting match in the semifinals, Stubbs praised the Italian player’s triumph and emphasized how dangerous she may be in the championship match. She wrote, “JAZZY!!! Forza! Omg guys, I know you don’t know much about her, but she’s always been this good, just needed to believe in herself and trust that talent! Love ❤️ her! Way to go! Going to be a fun match in the finals with two great clay courters going at it.”

While the Polish tennis player has dominated the arena in her own way, for the Australian coach, nothing comes before tennis. On the other hand, the 53-year-old tennis coach, just a few days, made a supporting statement over the 23-year-old tennis player and a potential record that she can make after winning multiple French Open titles in the future.

Serena Williams’ former coach shared a record-breaking threat for Iga Swiatek

Iga Swiatek was chosen by Stubbs as the overwhelming favorite for the Melbourne Park championship in 2024. “I said yesterday I think Iga can win eight French Opens, actually think she can win more than eight but I think she can win at least eight French Opens,” Stubbs stated in reference to Swiatek’s favored Grand Slam.

Not only that, she also emphasized the fact that the world number one clearly carries the potential to surpass Chris Evert’s (7) and Steffi Graf’s (6) French Open tally with her amazing clay court performance in the future. If Swiatek wins the French Open, she will accomplish a historic first not seen since 2007: she will be the first female champion to win three times in a row, following Justine Henin.
