Venus Williams and Serena Williams have faced each other in competitive matches a total of 31 times. Serena leads in the head-to-head with 19 wins over Venus’ 12. The younger Williams sister has dominated the rivalry between the two. One might think that Serena is the better player out of the two. However, there has been quite a bit of speculation that the result of the matches between the two was decided beforehand by their father, Richard Williams. When questioned about such allegations, Venus Williams always denied it vehemently.
The biggest allegation of the sort came in 2001. The sisters had cruised through the latter stages of the 2001 Indian Wells Masters. Both were ready to face each other in the semifinal. But Venus pulled out before the match due to an injury and Serena went to the finals. However, the nightmare had just begun for the Williams family. Allegations of match fixing were launched at the trio by disgruntled fans.

She said that she found the question highly offensive, as she believes in remaining professional. Venus further added that she contributes the best for her sport.
“Well, the main thing is that I find the question pretty offensive because I’m extremely professional in everything that I do on and off the court. I can, I contribute my best in my sport, and I also have a ton of respect for myself and my family, so any mention of that is extremely disrespectful for who I am, what I stand for, and my family. So that’s pretty much how I feel about the whole subject.“

She ended her answer by saying that they should move on, since the question was rather ridiculous to her. “I really don’t. We need to move on from this subject because it’s ridiculous.”
