Hollywood actress Zendaya is excited about her latest project revolving around tennis. The fan-favorite actress will play the role of a tennis player in the new movie ‘Challengers.’ The details of the movie are still under wraps. However, in a recent interview, the actor revealed that she is a big fan of the American tennis legend Serena Williams. She has been an inspiration for many athletes and fans, both on and off the court. Williams has paved the way for many players to make their mark in the entertainment industry.

Zendaya also shared that tennis has become one of her favorite sports to watch. However, it was not always the case for her. She explained how Serena Williams’ influence helped her latch on to the role.

Zendaya shares that Serena Williams has been a huge inspiration for her upcoming role

It seems that the ‘Euphoria’ actress will be playing a tennis player in the upcoming film ‘Challengers.’ In an exclusive interview, Zendaya admits to not knowing much about tennis except for her appreciation of Serena Williams. According to Vogue,  the actress shared, “I knew enough about tennis, but not really. Like, I knew Serena Williams, right? To be able to dive into that world and have to learn it, very hands-on, was special. Now I think it’s one of my favorite sports, especially to watch.”

Williams’ exemplary influence has helped Zendaya develop an interest in tennis. She is now excited to explore herself in the “sexy comedy but set in the world of tennis”. In the same interview, Zendaya shared that playing a tennis player in ‘Challengers’ was a unique experience for her. She had to learn about tennis from scratch. Zendaya was able to do so by getting hands-on experience with the tennis racket.

The actress known for her roles in “Spider-Man: Homecoming” and “Euphoria,” was cheering on the tennis superstar who ultimately lost the match. However, Williams had the support of Zendaya and other fans in the crowd. And Williams’ impact extends far beyond the tennis court.

After the end of her career, she was visibly emotional and thanked the audience for their support throughout her journey. As a tribute to Williams’ legacy, Nike launched a new campaign titled “By Changing Nothing, She Changed Everything.” It showcases her remarkable achievements over the years. The short documentary, narrated by Zendaya, highlighted her glorious moments. The actress encapsulated it beautifully by saying that Williams “rose above it” and “worked even harder to prove them wrong.”
