Serena Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian is among the most well-known businessman in America. He co-founded Reddit at a young age and now invests in small independent ventures to help them flourish on their own through his capital venture firm, Seven Seven Six.

The American businessman has always stood up for women’s sports in his own way. Along with his wife, the 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams, he has voiced his opinions on gender equality and support for women’s growth in the sporting world. Recently, the Reddit co-founder was honored with the 2022 ‘Champion for Equality’ award by the Women’s Sports Federation. Subsequently, he wrote a beautiful ‘thank you note’ after receiving the honor.

Ohanian, along with his family, attended the award function on Wednesday night, organized by the Women’s Sports Federation. There, the Reddit co-founder was awarded this year’s award for promoting gender equality through Seven Seven Six. 

After receiving the award, Ohanian took to his Twitter account after receiving the award. He wrote, “This award is the first I’ve ever received for any of my work. I obviously don’t do any of it for awards, but it feels like we’re on the right track with @sevensevensix just 2 years in funding @weareangelcity is just one of many to come…” During the awards show, he was with his daughter Olympia, who was there to support her father along with her mother, Serena Williams.

Ohanian is leading the way to invest in women’s sports

With the Reddit co-founder’s investment in the Angel City FC soccer team, he has encouraged other prominent personalities to invest more in women’s sports as well. Notably, Ohanian is the lead investor for the soccer team along with his wife and five-year-old daughter.

Thus, he has invested around $100 million and has been a constant support to his team. In their first NWSL season, the team has played and won a lot of matches and somewhere the credit goes to the Reddit founder as well.
