Watching Jaden Smith in the movie ‘Karate Kid’ and rapping to Justin Bieber’s song made everyone go crazy, especially girls who grew up at the time. And one of them was the young Coco Gauff, the American tennis sensation. So, when her childhood crush tweeted about her after her astounding run at Wimbledon, where she defeated Venus Williams in the first round, she went crazy.

Gauff detailed her excitement about receiving appreciation from a lot of celebrities. So, when appreciation came from none other than her childhood crush, Jaden Smith, Gauff could not keep calm.

Coco Gauff was exhilarated after Jaden Smith praised her performance

The American teenage sensation made headlines around the world when she defeated the legend Venus Williams in the first round of the Wimbledon Championships in 2019. Several renowned personalities like Michelle Obama, Snoop Dogg, and Jaden Smith showered praise on the 15-year-old’s incredible achievement.

But getting praise from Will Smith’s son made Gauff swoon. In an interview, she talked about how thrilling it was to get appreciation from Michelle Obama. Following that, she mentioned her childhood crush, Jaden Smith.

She said, “I kinda had the biggest crush on him when I was younger.” Furthermore, she said, “All my friends were freaking out ’cause they know how much I like him.” 

After her astounding run in 2022, Gauff has garnered a lot of love and support from people around the world.

Gauff on finding her own identity

When the American teenager rose to prominence, the inevitable comparison with Serena Williams came her way. But Gauff has made a name for herself, for not only being an astounding tennis player but also for speaking up about issues that affect her. So, when an interviewer asked her about being compared to Serena, she stated she understands where the comparison was coming from. However, she did not want to be the ‘next Serena Williams’, she only wanted to be a better version of herself.
