How Gauff’s parents support the young tennis champion on and off the court?

Candi and Corey have followed basic principles to help their daughter thrive. First things first, they encourage Coco no matter which stage she’s playing on. Candi Gauff is famous for having wild celebrations every time Coco wins. Coco’s father, on the other hand, has been Coco’s main coach for most of her career. Her mother has assumed the role of the mental coach.

The next step they follow is encouraging good body language. As per her parents, focusing on what one can control is better than anything else, like mindset, body language, composure, preparation and persistence. Winning is dependent on what one brings to the game. Therefore, one’s mind should not be centered around winning, rather, aspects that lead to winning.

The third principle the two follow is to let the kid be a kid. Although Coco has graduated from school now, she had to balance school and tennis before. She had enrolled in an online school to ensure she didn’t miss out on her education. Her mother does her best to help Coco to keep the two separate.
