The audience’s reactions to King Richard, the movie based on Serena and Venus Williams’ father, were conflicting. However, the movie attracted a lot of attention, and a number of celebrities posted reviews of the movie on social media. An American actress had also provided one such unvarnished critique.

The film is based on Richard Williams, and how he raised two of the greatest tennis icons the sports could ever have. His vision that he had in their childhood days and how he worked hard to give them a successful start in their career. ‘King Richard’ is an emotional movie that talked about the importance of family and having faith while creating a difference in the world.

Reese Witherspoon had praised ‘King Richard’ 

Oscar-winning actress, Reese Witherspoon, once praised the biography that talked about Serena and Venus’ father and his part of the journey in their tennis career. She took to her social media account back in November 2021 and talked about what Williams did for his kids was great.

She took to her Twitter and wrote, “Thinking about @KingRichardFilm…You are supposed to be your kid’s biggest fan. Always cheering them on and encouraging them to dream big. Tell me something great about your amazing kid!” She emphasized the fact that parents should be their children’s biggest fans and should always encourage them.

In the film, Will Smith portrayed the main character of Williams’ father. Followed by Demi Singleton and Saniyya Sidney, who played Serena and Venus Williams, respectively. The story revolved around the player’s initial years and the influence of their father on the same.

Serena and Venus Williams ruled on the tennis court

Over the years, thanks to their father, the Williams sisters created a name for themselves on the tennis court. The younger Williams has 23 grand slam titles to her name and retired from the sport this September. The former world number one had one of the most decorated tennis careers of all time.

Meanwhile, the older sister has 7 grand slam titles but hasn’t claimed a major title since Wimbledon in 2008. After those, she did reach three finals, two of which were at Wimbledon. This year, she tried hard to come back to form but was not able to win a title. The two also played their last doubles together at the US Open this year, but unfortunately lost in the first round itself.
