After the successful completion of the Miami Open 2021, it’s time for the clay-court season. The first WTA tournament for the same, the Charleston 2021 has begun and players are quite excited for the same. Interestingly, two American players, Sloane Stephens and Sofia Kenin, are practicing together for the tournament.

Fans witnessed Sofia Kenin and Sloane Stephens hitting the net together right before the Volvo Car Open 2021. In a recent press conference, Stephens talked about her training sessions with Kenin.

“Sofia is obviously a great girl. We played doubles in Miami last week. She’s always a good player to practice with so we always have good hits,” Stephens told EssentiallySports.com

The US Open 2017 winner highlighted that both of them played the doubles together in Miami last week. She also stated that Kenin is a great player to train with and has some good hits.

“Great girl to have around”- Sloane Stephens on Sofia Kenin

Stephens emphasized that Kenin has enjoyed some great success in the recent past, including her victory at the Australian Open 2020. Not to forget, she was also the runner-up at the French Open 2020. Keeping all this in mind, Stephens claimed that she is a really nice person to have around and practice with.

“She’s had some really amazing results and last year’s pre-pandemic like obviously winning the Australian Open and still, now she’s playing great tennis. So great girl to have around and obviously a great person to practice with,” added the former World No.3 player.

Sloane Stephens will begin her campaign against Wang Xinyu at the WTA Volvo Car Open 2021 tomorrow. She will not only be looking to get off to a great start but also to go all the way.

On the other hand, Sofia Kenin will play the first round in the doubles category tomorrow. Partnering with fellow American Bethanie Mattek-Sands, the pair will face Coco Gauff and Caty McNally. Will Kenin be able to give a good start to her clay-court season by succeeding at the Charleston 2021?
