Rick Macci is one of the most prominent coaches in the history of the sport. With a resume that highlights coaching the likes of Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams, Macci has been instrumental in athletes fulfilling their potential on the tour.
The Italian coached the Williams sisters with their father, Richard Williams, at a young age in Compton, California. Since then, Serena Williams has gone on to become one of the most dominant tennis players of all time.

Macci describes Serena Williams’ attitude on court
Williams is known for her hard-hitting shots and explosive game over the years. In a tweet, her former coach Macci explained the American’s mindset once she entered the court. He said, “Serena was always joking around every day as a kid .”

The Williams sisters have both made it to the top of the world rankings, while winning the biggest competitive honors in women’s tennis. However, both are now reaching the end of two amazing careers after turning 40.
Serena has been out of action after her first-round exit at last year’s Wimbledon due to injury. Her last Grand Slam came back in the Australian Open 2017, an astounding 23rd Grand Slam title.

Both Serena and Venus have met each other in Grand Slam finals, while also participating in doubles together, representing the United States. Venus is a 7-time Grand Slam champion, while Serena is one short of the all-time record of 24, held by Margaret Court.
The sisters have also won Olympic gold in doubles, while reaching the No.1 rankings in both women’s singles and doubles. Interestingly, Venus and Serena also have had dominant winning streaks since their debuts.
