Both Gigi Hadid and Bella Hadid are huge fans of Serena Williams. So, when Williams greeted Gigi Hadid for the Glamour Women of the Year Award in 2017, the supermodel could not control her tears.

Gigi Hadid then went on to thank Williams for the role she has played in inspiring her and being a great friend of hers.

Gigi Hadid gets emotional over Serena Williams’ speech

Williams is an inspiration for millions around the world. So, when such a person hails you for your contribution, you can not help but get emotional. And that is exactly what happened when Williams praised Gigi Hadid for the tremendous work that she has done. Former World No 1 proudly boasted about watching her grow up and becoming friends with her.

This all made the supermodel emotional, and she could not control her tears. When she got on the stage, she rushed to give Williams a huge and warm hug. Gigi Hadid, before thanking anyone, thanked the American tennis legend. She said, “Serena, I just wanna say that you have been such an inspiring force and beautiful light in my life for so many years.”

Hadid hailed their friendship and said, “I can’t tell you how honored I am to call you my friend and that you are here tonight, I love you so much. So, thank you.”

Both the Hadid sisters are huge fans of Williams. Bella Hadid had come to watch the final match of Serena Williams at the US Open. She could not help herself from crying over her farewell.

A lot of well-known faces were present in the crowd in the final match of Serena Williams. Apart from tennis legends, Martina Navratilova and Billie Jean King, we also saw entertainment and political celebrities in the audience. This included Hugh Jackman, Mike Tyson, Queen Latifah, Rebel Wilson, and Lindsey Vonn were there to cheer the American tennis legend from the audience.
