During the interview, she spoke about this recent win, also reflecting a little about her experience from the debut campaign. Representing her nation at the BJK Cup qualifiers a few weeks ago, Emma Navarro shared how she had to become ‘Eminem-Varro’ during the BJK Cup.

The 22-year-old American tennis player had to go through a challenge every American is tasked with while representing the nation. When asked to write and then sing a rookie rap during a dinner party hosted by Team USA for Team Belgium in Orlando, everyone was surprised by Emma’s rapping skills. She drew applause from players of both nations. Recalling that moment, Emma Navarro opened up at an interview, saying, “I forgot about it; that I did the rap for, like, a week. And then, I came here, and everyone’s like ‘Oh great rap, great rap!’, I’m like, I’ll never live this down.”

Navarro further added that it was Taylor Townsend who first told her that she would have to do a rookie rap. “I’m like, ‘What’s a rookie rap?’ She is like, ‘You’ll find out.’ And I’m like, yeah, that’s hilarious and then we were in the van on the ride on the way to whatever dinner that was. They were like, ‘No, you actually have to do it.’ Obviously, Taylor was leading the charge,” Emma Navarro revealed. Moreover, she also had to write and perform that rap on stage during the press interaction.

Emma got an enormous response from the tennis world after the clippings of her rapping went viral. Coco Gauff said Navarro “ate“, while Shelby Rogers wrote, “What a performance!” Another American tennis star, Clervie Ngounoue, stated that Emma Navarro “left absolutely no crumbs.” The youngster took the internet by storm, not with the racquet but with the mic this time. However, there was one player who got a scolding from the captain, Lindsay Davenport, for criticizing Emma Navarro’s rapping skills.

During the Tennis Channel Live Podcast, Andy Roddick revealed that he had received a message from Lindsay Davenport after criticizing Navarro’s rapping skills. Elaborating on the matter, Roddick stated, “I got a text this morning saying, ‘Don’t you dare make fun of Emma Navarro’s rap game.'”

“Message heard loud and clear. Saying I was harsh; I like the tennis game more than rapping,” he further added. But ultimately, Andy Roddick took back his words. Addressing this take, he claimed, “I like all the rapping, I would buy all the albums. I do not want to be on Lindsay’s bad side; I’ve avoided for many years.”
