While she enjoyed the newly found success, she was forced to take shelter at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago after withdrawing from a highly prestigious tournament.

Monica Seles shifts to Trump’s mansion

Winning the Australian Open and the French Open, the top seeded Seles was eyeing a title at the Wimbledon Championships. However, two days prior to the Championships, Monica Seles shook the world by announcing her sudden withdrawal from the tournament. It was reported that her decision was a direct result of injuries sustained in a ‘minor’ car accident. However, the details of the accident remain unspecified.

Being the top-ranked player and the favorite for the title, Seles’ withdrawal instantly became a matter of concern. In the urge to gather information about the withdrawal of the then Yugoslavian player, the press surrounded the residence of Seles, forcing her to shift to the place of a surprising friend.

After being untraceable for days, Seles was spotted on the grounds of the palatial Palm Beach residence of Donald Trump, Mar-a-Lago. It was reported that a source close to Trump confirmed that Seles and her family shifted to the Trump’s property a week ago to escape the press.

Being out of the tour for six weeks, Seles made a comeback at the US Open. Even though she had taken a six-week break, it didn’t seem to reflect on her performance. Being in a strong position, she went on to beat Martina Navratilova in the final to capture her third major of the year. With the win, she also secured the year end World No.1 title.
