Wimbledon is going on in full swing and while the highlight of the beginning of the grass-court season was a tribute to Roger Federer, Chris Evert too was in the limelight. However, that is where the similarities ended. Taking the seat of the commentator, she made a blunder. Evert confused the nationality of Elena Rybakina with that of the Russian player Daria Kasatkina, who was not even in the match.

However, that was not it. The blunder turned into quite an embarrassing moment as she gave rise to a new controversy after she went on with her commentary.

Evert has put on the shoes of a commentator after having a glorious on-court legacy with 18 Grand Slam titles under her name. However, she has time and again become a target of criticism because of what she says during commentary.

She stated, “Rybakina is a Russian, played for Russia.” Following this statement, things became even more bizarre as she mispronounced her adopted country. She stated, “Rybakina is a Russian, played for Russia, moved to Kasatkina.”

Noticing how she made the slip, even the Russian player could not help but comment on the same.
