Earlier this year, Caroline Wozniacki surprised one and all with a massive revelation. The Danish tennis star announced that she’ll be making a comeback to the sport, more than three years after calling it quits. The 33-year-old last played at the Australian Open in 2020 where she lost in the third round. However, soon after, she announced her retirement decision in order to focus on her personal life. Nonetheless, her fans have reasons to cheer now as Wozniacki has returned to the court.

As the former Australian Open champion announced her comeback news, the tennis world was left in a frenzy, and thousands of fans flocked to social media to wish her luck. Additionally, fellow tennis players also reacted to Wozniacki’s return. Amongst them was the 23-time Grand Slam champion, Novak Djokovic.

What did Djokovic say about Wozniacki’s comeback?

Yesterday, the former World Number 1 marked a successful return to tennis at the National Bank Open in Montreal, Canada. Wozniacki defeated Australia’s Kimberly Birrell in a highly-anticipated round-of-64 match.

Subsequently, Wozniacki received a sweet message from Novak Djokovic. The Serb took to his official Instagram handle and shared Dane’s comeback moment via an Instagram story. Additionally, he also had a 3-word message for her, saying, “Welcome back Caro.” Replying to Djokovic’s heartfelt message, Wozniacki thanked him along with sharing his message on Instagram.

Coming to her first-round victory, it was an easy straight-set victory for the Danish star. She took just over an hour and a half to dispatch Kimberly Birrell with an identical score line of 6-2, 6-2. However, Wozniacki has a tough road lying ahead.
