The 2021 US Open champion Emma Raducanu rose to fame immediately after she won her first grand slam. People had high expectations of her but due to her serious injuries, she had to pull out from various important tournaments. First, she revoked her participation in the Madrid Open right before her first match was about to begin due to an injury in her right hand. And then later, she again moved away from Wimbledon due to surgery that she had to go undergo. Despite her being away from the sport for so long, tennis legend Billie Jean King is all praises about her. She even shared how she wants her to be back only after a full recovery.

Billie Jean King shares words of appreciation for Emma Raducanu and calls her ‘interesting’ too

During an interview with Sky Sports, Billie Jean King was asked about what she thinks about Emma Raducanu being away from tennis for so long. To which she responded that being healthy is important, especially in a physically demanding sport like tennis.

King was also very positive about Raducanu, as she said, “We need Raducanu to be healthy, number one. She’s a great person. She’s interested in the world around her; she can speak more than one language. She can speak Chinese because her mother is Chinese. She’s somebody who I think is interesting as a human being. I’m interested in her next chapter & I want her to be really healthy so she can play tennis because I know she loves to play.”
