With 23 Grand Slam wins, the American is just one shy of the all-time record of Margaret Court. As she approaches the final years of her legendary career, Williams has been part of some of the most iconic moments in tennis folklore.

Serena celebrates Nike’s 50th anniversary

The American who is sponsored by Nike alongside athletes like Naomi Osaka and Rafael Nadal took to social media to celebrate a milestone. Williams shared a snippet of Sports Lab with a highlight reel of the 23-time champ. The caption read, “One of my favorite highlights is being featured on the latest episode of Sports Lab to celebrate @nike 50th Anniversary!”

The iconic ‘Serena Split’ came into existence after pulling off a passing shot against Bethanie Mattek-Sands in the third round of the 2015 US Open. The No. 1 seed ended up winning the match, but the title was eventually won by Italian Flavia Pennetta.

Williams’ favorite color purple features heavily inside the building, while also having graphics and artwork as per the 41-year-old’s wishes. “We were bringing Serena in early to not just be the building’s name, but really help participate. It is a tribute to Serena Williams.”, said John Hoke, Nike’s chief design officer. ”
