“Are We Going to Saudi Arabia?” – Animated Sloane Stephens Drops a Priceless Reaction to Doubles Triumph in Charleston

Fourth Doubles events together and their first win; Sloane Stephens and Ashlyn Krueger are ruling the doubles arena. As the duo won their first title at the Charleston Open 2024, after putting forward an amazing competition for other doubles participants, both of them, especially the 31-year-old player, were left stunned, knowing about their doubles rankings.

After lifting the Charleston Open 2024 doubles title, in a recent interview with the Tennis Channel, there was a moment when the host highlighted how the 2017 US Open champion has reached a doubles ranking of 105. Listening to this, not only Stephens but even her double partner, the 19-year-old American, also joined in the scream, while both of them left astonished over how unexpectedly things were happening their way. 

After sharing the amazing reaction to their rankings, she also highlighted her goal and explained how she couldn’t believe what was happening with her live rankings. She stated, “I feel like you play better in your singles your serves better your returns better so that was a goal of mine for this year to just play more doubles be on the court more just enjoy myself, have fun whatever that is. And I was like I’m going to have a goal of a hundred because I think I can do that but not 105 I don’t know you guys might see me near like 50.”

Not only that, they were more surprised. In the whole doubles rankings revelation conversation, the host further added that the rankings they are currently holding might give them a chance to get into the doubles category of the WTA Finals. While the Grand Slam champion herself was surprised, she shared a question regarding their participation in the year-end event and said, “Are we going to Saudi Arabia?”

Subsequently, the duo will be seen playing the French Open as the next biggest target that they would like to achieve in the doubles. On the other hand, just a few days ago, she also revealed the reason behind deciding to play doubles with a young American tennis player.

At the Charleston Open, the former third-ranked tennis player recently provided insight into her choice to partner with a 19-year-old. She offered her preference for playing with younger players as an explanation for her decision, citing a lack of older players to partner with when she first started out.

She said, “I love playing with the younger girls. I feel like when I was coming up like no older people played with me. So, I’m always like do you want to play?”

She further added, “I’ll play with you, I just no pressure just to go out there and just play and have a good time Ashley and I played in Brisbane this year and we made quarters of a 500 and she was like so excited, I was so excited.” But now that they are achieving victory in the doubles court, it won’t be wrong to say that Stephens made the right decision.
