Gone too soon. According to several reports that broke out a few hours from now, Belarusian former pro ice hockey player and boyfriend of tennis star Aryna Sabalenka, Konstantin Koltsov passed away at the age of 42 in Miami. Fans have now started to bring candles and flowers to the main entrance of the Ufa Arena from Lenin Street in memory of Koltsov.

Koltsov played for the NHL team Pittsburgh Penguins in three seasons between 2002-2006. He also represented the Belarusian national team at the Winter Olympics in 2002 and 2010. This news has turned out to be a huge loss for the sports fraternity.

After taking retirement from the sport in 2016, Konstantin Koltsov took up various coaching roles, and he was recently the assistant coach for Salavat Yulaev Ufa in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). This tragic news has left shockwaves around the sporting world. Although the cause of his death remains unknown. Several fans brought in flowers and scarves and put them in front of his photo to pay their respect for the ice hockey star.

Sabalenka was currently all set to participate in the Miami Open and was accompanied by her boyfriend on the tour. Both of them were seen together for the first time in June 2021. They were seen several times together through their social media posts. Koltsov was also seen applauding her girlfriend after her recent AO triumph. Several reactions have come in after this news broke out a few hours ago.
