British tennis star, Emma Raducanu, has seen massive peaks and troughs in her career. At the 2021 US Open, she entered the tournament as a qualifier and stunned one and all by clinching the title. However, injuries and loss of form have led to a downfall since then, which has affected Raducanu. Additionally, Raducanu has had constant changes to her coaching staff, due to which consistency has been a far shot for her. Nonetheless, Serena Williams‘ childhood coach, Rick Macci, has remained optimistic about her.

Further, he went on to add, “I know when you qualify and then win a Grand Slam without losing a set you’ve got something special between the ears – and much of the game is played between the ears.”

Macci has coached many young talents, and his views on Raducanu are worth considering. Not only has Raducanu achieved US Open glory but also achieved a top 10 ranking during her peak which led to Macci being optimistic about her.

Emma Raducanu was last seen in action at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in April this year. However, since then, she has been struggling with wrist and ankle injuries and also underwent surgeries that forced her to miss the remainder of the 2023 season. Recently, she also revealed how injuries took a toll on her.

Emma Raducanu suffered badly due to injuries

The former US Open champion made a saddening confession earlier this month. She had to stay away from the court and also didn’t catch any live action.

During an interview, she revealed, “I didn’t watch any of the US Open. When the Slams were happening and it was too raw. You know the feeling of playing, you knew the feeling of walking out onto the court. It’s a bit close to home, so I stayed away from the US Open.”

While Raducanu’s hopes of making a comeback during the latter part of the 2023 season were dashed, she will look to return early next year. Additionally, she also has the Australian Open in sight as she looks to end her injury hiatus. Can the British star make a strong comeback next year? Let us know your views in the comments below.
