Ulrich’s son, Lars Ulrich, the drummer for Metallica, recently shared the tragic news of his father’s passing on social media. Reacting to it, the American tennis legend Billie Jean King recently penned a heartfelt message for the former world no. 96 player on the men’s tour.

Billie Jean King reacts to Torben Ulrich’s demise

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer passed away at the age of 95, leaving many in the music and tennis communities in mourning. While sharing a carousel of pictures with his father on Instagram, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich announced his demise in the caption, stating, ‘Torben Ulric: 1928-2023.’

Billie Jean King also came across the sad news as she paid a touching tribute to the tennis veteran. While reminiscing about his early days on the tour, the former world No. 1 player said that Ulrich was a well-liked figure. She tweeted, “When Torben Ulrich, who was a Danish tennis pro, played on the tour in the early days, he was well-liked and very zen. We are thinking of his family during this sad time. May he rest in peace.”

Following in his father, Einer’s footsteps, Torben Ulrich picked up his racket to go pro. During his competitive journey on the men’s tour, the former Danish tennis player achieved a career-high ranking of World No. 96 in singles in 1973.
