Ashleigh Barty has shocked the world with her sudden retirement from professional tennis. People were looking for her on-court return, but Aussie had other plans. After completing her duties as Australia’s Ambassador, a 25-year old player took to social media to announce her decision.
Barty missed “Sunshine double” due to health reasons. Unbeaten in the 2022 WTA season, Ashleigh decided to hand the racquet once and for all.

Australian top player was phenomenal throughout her career. She started with good form in doubles winning her first grand slam in 2018 at the US Open. Also, she managed to reach the finals of other Grand Slam ladies’ doubles.
After coming back to the tour after a brief break from tennis, Barty’s career took off. The Australian star went on to win many important games and grabbed the 2019 French Open title as 1st singles Grand slam. She became World No.1 and stayed there till her retirement.

Ashleigh Barty vs Elina Svitolina – 2021 Stuttgart semi final
Svitolina had a better head-to-head record (5-2) against Ashleigh and looked to go for another win after a strong 1st set performance. But, a determined Barty fought her way back in the game forcing a tie-breaker in the 2nd set and went on to grab the match with an even stronger third set.
Barty vs Shelby Rogers – 2021 in WTA Charleston
In this match, the Aussie star was a clear favorite and won the first set in a tiebreaker, but the fight back from Rogers made the match interesting. The deciding set was played at a top level from both players. But, Barty finally overcame the challenge with her service finesse.

Barty vs Aryna Sabalenka – 2021 Miami open QF
Having entered as the top seed in the tournament, Barty had to play her best to win over the Belarusian. Having a better head-to-head (3-2) record against Barty, Aryna was playing with some confidence. However, the defending Miami champion kept her play clean and forced 47 errors from the opponent. This was a decisive stat as Barty advanced to the semis with a 6-4, 6-7, 6-3 win.
Ashleigh Barty vs Karolina Pliskova – 2021 Wimbledon Final
The top seed was in the form of her life as she cruised to the Wimbledon finals for the first time in her career. The opponent Karolina was also in top form and gave stiff competition to the Aussie. But, it was another master class from Barty that allowed her to get her hands on Wimbledon Championship in three sets. Barty created a historic record by being the first Australian in forty years to win Wimbledon.
Barty vs Danielle Collins – 2022 Australian Open Final
A lot was riding on Barty when she entered the Australian Open this year. This could easily be considered Ashleigh’s best performance so far. She not only dominated the complete tournament but brought joy to the home crowd by winning the ‘happy slam’. She didn’t drop a set in all the seven matches played and was in complete control in finals also.
