Since making her professional debut in 1995, Serena Williams has been a dominant figure on the WTA tour. Hall of Famer coach Rick Macci coached Serena early in her career, alongside Venus. Nevertheless, both the sisters had to face a lot of difficulties in the early stages of their career.

Notably, Serena did not look like a conventional women’s tennis player, as she had a ripped physique. Some fans praised her and some questioned her because of the way she was dominating the sport. In a recent post, Macci shared the details about people questioning Serena’s physique.

Earlier on Twitter, Macci revealed that many people used to ask him about Serena’s incredible physique. “When @serenawilliams started winning at a young age everybody asked me if she took steroids because she looked ripped. I would shake my head smile and say she is ripped because of the genetic jackpot. Speed quickness agility eyes and hands. Under the hood a COMPTON STREET FIGHT!” Macci wrote on Twitter

It is worth noting that both Serena and Venus had incredible physiques, as they dominated on the tennis court for more than 20 years. Early in their careers, their father, Richard Williams, and mother, Oracene Price, played a crucial role in their development. In the years following the appointment of Macci as their professional coach, they improved their tennis skills even further.

Serena is ready for Wimbledon

Earlier this week, Serena played her first match after almost a year in the doubles tournament at Eastbourne. Due to an unfortunate injury to her partner, Ons Jabeur, they had to pull out of their semi-final match. Now, she is fully focused on the Wimbledon title and her goal of reaching 24 Grand Slam titles to catch up with Margaret Court.

Meanwhile, the women’s draw at the Wimbledon is out now, and the American did not have an easy draw. In the first round, she will face the 24-year-old French player Harmony Tan. If she wins the next few rounds, she could meet the American teenage sensation Coco Gauff in the fourth round. Then, the 7-time Wimbledon champion could meet Simona Halep in the quarters.
