Serena Williams shares a special bond with her father, Richard Williams. It was he who introduced his daughter to the tennis world. Further, he was determined to turn Serena and Venus into world-class players. He was their first coach and took them to the public tennis courts to train.

Apart from tennis training, Richard Williams also provided useful life lessons to his daughters. Serena once revealed one such useful piece of advice.
‘King Richard’ once taught Serena Williams to save money
During an interview before the 2020 US Open, the 23-time Grand Slam champion revealed how her father taught her a useful life lesson about saving money for the future. Talking about this, she said, “At a young age, it was instilled in me that I shouldn’t splurge. I remember going to parks and playing tennis with my dad and he’d say, ‘Athletes always lose their money.’”

Further, she went on to add, “He made it clear that as an athlete, there was a risk of losing what you earned.”

Serena had a decent run in the 2020 US Open. She reached the semifinals of the tournament before losing out to Victoria Azarenka in the last-four clash. The American legend gave her all in that clash but couldn’t overcome the challenge of Azarenka, who defeated her in three sets.
Serena becomes one of the top-earning women in the United States
Recently, news surfaced about the 23-time Grand Slam champion and the former World Number 1 becoming one of the highest-earning women in the country. She recently quit tennis after her third-round exit at the US Open. However, Serena has been active with her business ventures like ‘S by Serena’ and ‘Serena Ventures’, from where she has earned massive fortunes.
