Since the match between Novak Djokovic and Taylor Fritz went on for longer than expected, the following match between Aryna Sabalenka and Barbora Krejčíková was delayed. The quarterfinal bout of the Australian Open is played in the Rod Laver Arena, but the two WTA stars were asked to move to a smaller court since the tournament is on a time crunch, which they denied.
The tournament has come under fire for scheduling errors many times, and this year seems to be no different. While they added extra days to account for the first-round delays, their scheduling problems are now shining through in the final stages.

Fritz and Djokovic played their match for four sets, and it ended after almost four hours. After the match, Nick Kyrgios’ and Djokovic’s interview took even longer to end, further delaying the match. In light of the situation, officials asked Sabalenka and Krejčíková to move to the Margaret Court Arena, when finals matches are played on Rod Laver Arena.
Jose Morgado, renowned tennis reporter, shared the news on his social media page, “Wow. Barbara Schett reports they actually asked the women if they wanted to move to Margaret Court Arena earlier and they obviously said no.
