After witnessing some quite exciting tennis at the Tokyo Olympics 2021, it’s time to move towards the National Bank Open 2021. The Masters 1000 tournament will begin tomorrow and many big players including Elina Svitolina, Aryna Sabalenka, Bianca Andreescu, and others will be playing in it.
In the pre-tournament press conference, World No.6 Elina Svitolina talked about her success at the National Bank Open 2017. She mentioned that it was a special moment for her as she defeated some big players to win the WTA Masters 1000 tournament.

“It was a really special one for me because I had a really tough draw,” said Svitolina in the press conference.

Svitolina is currently enjoying some great form on the WTA Tour. She recently grabbed a Bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 after surviving a tough match against Elena Rybakina. Thus, she will begin as one of the favorites at the National Bank Open 2021.

“Have great memories of coming to Canada”- Elina Svitolina
Svitolina defeated Caroline Wozniacki in the finals of the Canadian Open 2017 to grab her first title in Toronto. As a result, she stated that she defeated some big names in 2017 and it was a great week for her. She also highlighted that she has made some really great memories in Canada.

“I beat some really great players, and for me, it was a great week. I have great memories of coming to Canada,” added the Ukrainian player.

Elina Svitolina will be playing against either Johanna Konta or Zhang Shuai in her first match at the National Bank Open 2021. She hasn’t got an easy draw this year too as she might face Petra Kvitova in the quarters and then will have to possibly battle against Simona Halep or Bianca Andreescu in the semis. Will Svitolina be able to repeat her 2017 Canadian Open campaign this year as well?
