The world has already witnessed the remarkable feats of Serena Williams and Venus Williams. Racket in one hand and racket in the other hand; two sisters from Compton, California, pushed the boundaries of women’s tennis and carved their own path in the sport. They have also inspired change across several realms via their hard work, grit, and determination.

In a recent interview, Serena Williams also highlighted the way she and her sister Venus were able to bring about a change. The kind of change that would make the whole world look at them with a lot more pride.

During her recent interview, she specifically highlighted what she and her sister bring to the game of tennis. Williams said, “We changed the game of tennis,” 

“We changed how people play, period. People never attacked. People never took balls early. They never served like this. People never had to play so hard to beat two Black girls from Compton,” added the 40-year-old champion.

The younger Williams sister was mostly overlooked at the beginning of the narrated Williams tale. After years of rumors, Venus finally made her debut at age 14. She almost beat Arantxa Sánchez Vicario, which showed that the praise she had gotten was well-deserved.

At Flushing Meadows, Serena and Venus Williams were defeated by Lucie Hradecka and Linda Noskova of the Czech Republic in the first round of the US Open, 6-7 (5), 4-6. It was assumed that the September 1 encounter could be their last time playing together.

After the 2018 French Open, this was the first time both Williams sisters were on the court at the same time. Those years apart and their lack of expertise were evident in their muddled communication. At the conclusion of their first doubles match in almost four and a half years, the William sisters gave each other a bear hug and received a standing ovation from the crowd.
