In a recent podcast, this American WTA star spoke about how she dealt with social media racism and its influence on her life. Stephens commented- “I mean I’ve been through like FBI cases and like all types of stuff like from people you said what I yeah I’ve just had like terrible experiences like online and yeah people have gone to jail for like yeah harassing me on the internet mhm it’s like a real thing.”
Sloane Stephens also delved into how serious this matter is in her professional career. She further said- “It’s obviously been a problem my entire career, It has never stopped. If anything, it’s only gotten worse. I mean, obviously when there is FBI investigations going on with what people are saying to you online, it’s very serious. Obviously it’s been something that I have dealt with my whole career. I think that, like I said, it’s only continued to get worse, and people online have the free rein to say and do whatever they want behind fake pages, which is obviously very troublesome.”

She ended by saying- “It’s something I have had to deal with my whole career and something I will continue to deal with, I’m sure. Sloane Stephens on facing major racial abuse after winning against Pliskova at the French Open championship in 2023
Things have been always different for Sloane Stephens as the American tennis star was a subject of tremendous racial abuse. This started havoc after she won the US Open championship in 2017. This abuse went a bit further after Stephens defeated Karolina Pliskova at last year’s French Open tournament.
In this context, Stephens highlighted such social issues to enlighten fellow people. She said-“I have a lot of obviously key words banned on Instagram and all of these things, but that doesn’t stop someone from just typing in an asterisk or typing it in a different way, which obviously software most of the time doesn’t catch.”
