Earlier this week, Aryna Sabalenka‘s former boyfriend, Konstantin Koltsov, passed away unexpectedly, leading to shockwaves in the tennis circuit. Despite this incident, the Belarusian star opted to participate in the Miami Open. Even her opponent in the R64, Paula Badosa, has had her troubles going into the tournament. After their match, the Spanish tennis beauty shared a touching ‘it’s a win’ note.
Paula Badosa has been suffering from injuries this season. As a result, she hasn’t been able to give her best at the tournaments. Here’s what she had to say on this matter.

Badosa went down fighting against an in-form Sabalenka in the second round of the Miami Open. Sabalenka broke hardly any sweat to get the better of Badosa in straight sets 6-4, 6-3. After the match, Paula Badosa took to her official Twitter handle to convey that she was proud of her efforts despite her recent injury setback. She said, “3 weeks ago I was in a sofa without knowing when I would be able to play again, after that for the first time I was able to play during 8 days in a row since almost a year.”

Further, she went on to add, “I’m happy and proud of it. I know my level is far but the fact that I’m on a court, it’s a win. Step by step.” Badosa has been suffering from a myriad of injuries, which have affected her calf, adductor, and lower back. Additionally, a stress fracture in her L4 vertebra (lower back) resulted in her missing the second half of the 2023 season.

These have been persistent issues for her, that have now forced her to have an inconsistent start to the 2024 season. Despite these setbacks, there has been one person who has constantly been behind Badosa, supporting her in tough times.

Stefanos Tsitsipas sets a great example
Badosa’s boyfriend, Stefanos Tsitsipas, has constantly backed her to come back stronger from her injuries. While the two share an adorable bond, Tsitsipas has always held Badosa’s hand in tough times, something that the Spanish beauty is very proud of.
Highlighting this fact, Badosa said, “Since we started our relationship all the support I get from him and also having somebody that does the same thing as me like I think he empathizes with everything and of course we met in a moment that for me was really tough because it was the injury but he’s always been there for me.”

While Badosa’s Miami Open campaign has ended, Tsitsipas is playing in both men’s singles as well as the doubles at the tournament. He will begin his singles campaign against Denis Shapovalov.
