Caroline Wozniacki has returned to tennis after she announced her retirement in 2020. She made a comeback this year and participated in the Sunshine Double, and is now continuing her action in the Miami Open. At the tournament, we have another comeback star, Venus Williams. Queen V had the cheer of her sister, Serena Williams in the tournament as she played against Diana Shnaider. However, the seven-time grand slam champion lost the bout, and will now have to wait for the next optimal tournament to roll around.

Wozniacki is also playing in Miami, but she did not get to meet her close friend, the 23-time grand slam champion. While Serena Williams is still in the coastal metropolis, she can still visit Wozniacki as she moves on to play in the next round of the tournament, ready to face Kalinina.

Caroline Wozniacki speaks on match troubles as she awaits Serena Williams reunion

Wozniacki began the match against Burel with a comfortable breadstick. In a dominating form, Wozniacki would not be able to win the second set in a similar manner as the match ended 6-1, 6-4. Despite winning the bout, Wozniacki said that she experienced some difficulty. Sitting down with Tennis Channel, she said it was tricky to adapt to Miami after the Indian Wells Masters

She said, “I haven’t had much practice because I hurt my foot last week, so I was just trying to manage that as good as I could. I came out there and was playing surprisingly well in the first set and then started getting a little nervous as well and the wind was out there a little bit, made a little more difficult than I should have in the second set.

She further said that the issue started with the toe and the nail and then spread out. The break between the two tournaments helped, but she could not recover completely. I kind of compensated on other parts of the foot, so that started hurting, so that’s a little complicated. Getting old is never fun, you know; I’m just trying to manage as well as I can; I’m patching myself up here and there.”

Caroline Wozniacki has performed fantastically on the court. Now, can she keep it up to go deeper and have a better chance of meeting her close friend?
