On her Instagram story, Bianca Andreescu clarified that the injury is nothing major. But concerning the time for recovery, she announced unfortunate news for the Canadian tennis fans.

The 20-year-old confirmed that she would not participate in Billie Jean Cup this year because of her injury. However, she is looking forward to playing on the red dirt soon and the whole season after that.

She wrote, “Thank you to everyone for the messages of support and well wishes; you all are the best fans in the world. I’m relieved to say that there is no serious injury, and with some rest and preparation, I will be back very soon. This does mean that, unfortunately, I won’t be able to compete in the Billie Jean Cup. I love representing Canada, so this decision was not easy, but I’m prepared for the clay-court swing ahead and for the rest of the season.”

Inarguably, Bianca fought every match at the Miami Open to reach her first WTA final after 2019 US Open glory. But the final was just not her day.

On the other side, Australian World No. 1 Ashleigh Barty successfully defended her title. Even so, she muttered some consolatory words at the handshake after Bianca decided to pull a walkover.
