After her best campaign this season at the Miami Open, where she reached the quarterfinals, Caroline Garcia is now back on the court at the international team event. In her first qualifier match, the French tennis star tasted defeat at the hands of the former Grand Slam champion, Emma Raducanu. Despite winning the first set on her clay turf in Le Portel, Garcia ended up losing the match in a three-set thriller, 6-3, 3-6, 2-6.
The Frenchwoman, who started the game brilliantly, saw her first serve percentage plummet to 38% in the decisive set. Her British opponent took full advantage of this and pulled off a brilliant comeback while hitting only 11 unforced errors.

Katie Boulter, on the other hand, is coming to the Billie Jean King Cup after her round-of-16 finish at the Miami Open. The British tennis player’s best campaign this season came at the San Diego Open, where she enjoyed a triumphant run. In Le Portel, Boulter recently failed to overcome her French opponent, Diane Parry, in her first qualifier match.
After being 2-0 down, Parry went on to win 12 straight games as she thumped the Brit with a score of 6-2, 6-0. With her variety and courtcraft, the Frenchwoman exposed the inexperience of her opponent, Boulter, who had never won a tour-level match on clay.

Prediction: Garcia to clinch a crucial victory for France
The French player is currently sitting in the top 25 rankings on the women’s tour and she has a solid 131/91 record on clay court surfaces. She has also clinched a title on clay at the 2022 BNP Paribas Warsaw Open. Given her vast experience on the surface, Garcia is the favorite to win this qualifier against Boulter, who has yet to taste a victory in a tour-level match on clay.
