Former world’s number one tennis player, Billie Jean King took to her official X platform to pay her respect to the former US First Lady Michelle Obama’s mother, who passed away yesterday at 86. King shared Michelle Obama’s tweet and wrote- “Sending our deepest condolences to the Obama family today upon the passing of Marian Robinson, the Former First Lady’s mother. I had the privilege of spending some one-on-one time with her at the U.S. Open’s Arthur Ashe Kids Day in 2013. May she rest in peace.”

This former American tennis legend shared Michelle Obama’s tweet, who shared the news on social media- “My mom Marian Robinson was my rock, always there for whatever I needed. She was the same steady backstop for our entire family, and we are heartbroken to share she passed away today. We wanted to offer some reflections on her remarkable life”

Michelle Obama’s mother Ms Robison, who was also known as the “First Grandma” or “Grandma in Residence” during Barack Obama’s Presidentship, shared one-on-one moments with King during the US Open 2013.

Not only that but also King’s relationship with the Obama family has been very significant. The former US First Lady, Michelle Obama honored Billie Jean King on her 50th Birthday by announcing equal prize money for ATP and WTA players in the US Open. “Today I was honored to celebrate @BillieJeanKing and the 50th anniversary of equal prize money at the @USOpen. Billie Jean didn’t just change tennis — she changed the future on and off the court for women and girls in the decades since” – tweeted the former US First Lady.

Obama took a further dig at the legend and recalled how King advocated and raised her voice for equality in tennis. “Billie Jean teaches us that when things lie in the balance, we all have a choice to make, We can either wait around and accept what we’re given. We can sit silently and hope someone else fights our battles. Or we can make our own stand”- said the former US First Lady.
