Serena Williams will have to wait a while longer to make her much-awaited return to the circuit. Having suffered an injury setback at Wimbledon 2021, the 39-year-old took time off to recover. Her ardent fans expected the star to return at one of her favorite tournaments – the US Open. However, it was not meant to be. After taking an early lead in set-1, she slipped and injured her leg. In what was an emotional set of moments that followed, Williams was forced to retire mid-match. As she continues her road to recovery, a familiar face has lent her support.
