The Academy Awards is an event that millions around the world await. The 96th edition had a similar reception. It was alight with the usual energy the rest of the editions evoked. Along with the energy, many film aficionados leave the event upset as their favorite stars do not end up with the awards their fans hoped for. Chris Evert was one of them and found herself disappointed with the winner of the best actor.

This year’s Oscars did not prove to be favorable for Evert as she found herself upset at a nomination for a highly acclaimed award at the Oscars. She was joined by Billie Jean King, and she found herself disappointed again.

Chris Evert was upset at Best Actor winner in Oscar 2024

Oppenheimer cleaned house at the 96th Oscars held in the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. They were nominated for almost every award during the ceremony and went on to win seven awards. One of the most prominent awards they won was for Best Actor, given to Cillian Murphy, who played Robert Oppenheimer. While many are in celebration of his victory, some are disappointed.

 The 18-time grand slam champion, Chris Evert, was one of the stars and took to ‘X’ to share her sadness. For her, the lead actor of Maestro deserved the award. “Am I the only one who thinks Bradley Cooper deserves the #OSCAR ??? 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️I thought he was brilliant…”. Unfortunately, the ones responsible believed Murphy to be more deserving of the award.

This was not the only let-down for Evert at this year’s Oscars. The former American star was disheartened about the announcement of a nomination which left many baffled.

Ken’s nomination confuses Evert

Earlier in February, Ryan Gosling’s nomination as the Best Actor in a Supporting Role was announced. However, Margot Robbie was snubbed from the event and did not receive any nomination. Shannon Watts, an activist, talked about her disappointment at the lack of nomination for the movie. Evert was surprised and furious and said, “I’m sorry; how is this…. Possible???”.

Along with her, Billie Jean King also showed her disappointment at the nomination and said she was extremely upset about Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig, director, being snubbed for Best Actress and Best Director roles, respectively. The 2024 Oscars have not been favorable for Chris Evert this year.

She has been disheartened by the nominations and the results this year. She will be looking forward to the event next year for some of the results to fall her way.
