Since 2019, Eric Hechtman has been training with Venus Williams. He recently also took over Serena Williams’ coaching duties. In a recent interview, Hechtman shares his experience while training with Serena Williams before the US Open.

He has also served as a hitting partner for Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Venus, and Serena Williams, among others.

Eric Hechtman talks about Serena Williams’ intensity on the court

Eric Hechtman has been training with Serena Williams for the past few months. When asked about his experience being a coach to Serena for a short time, he had great things to share about her.

He said “They are definitely different, Serena is more her intensity. She gets out there, you know, you can feel her presence and you know, just from her warm-up.. plus her wardrobe and everything you can feel like that: the boxer is coming straight to the ring. That energy is ready to go, ready to throw some blows.”

Further, he added, “So ya, I mean in tennis you always as a coach, you always try to teach intensive and definitely you don’t have to teach Serena Williams, it’s there every second of every practice.”

Eric Hechtman appreciated Serena’s aura that she has created in her career. Hechtman has been coaching Serena for the last tournament of her professional life. 

Serena is all geared up for her last grand slam

Williams is prepared to say goodbye to tennis at the major, where it all began after a dazzling 27-year pro career in which she rose to become one of the best players of all time.

She will be playing for her last grand slam at the ‘Flushing Meadows’. The US Open tournament will be her chance to chase the title. The former World No. 1 who, at the age of 17, defeated Martina Hingis in the 1999 US Open final to claim the first of her 23 Grand Slam singles victories. However, Williams, along with her sister Venus, has been a powerful presence in women’s tennis.

Williams won mixed doubles championships at Wimbledon and the US Open in 1998, but her first singles Grand Slam didn’t come until 1999. Williams has amassed a collection of records.

Serena Williams is ready to bid goodbye to the tennis world. For her fans, saying goodbye to the G.O.A.T. won’t be simple.
