The ordeal was made worse for the Romanian player as she found out that her coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, and his team were the ones who put her in the situation.

Halep’s career was under much uncertainty when her case went live. She has not played tennis professionally since the 2022 US Open and had to appeal her case to wipe her slate clean. After some investigation, it was revealed that the banned substance entered her blood due to severe negligence by her coaching team. Mouratoglou, her former coach, revealed that she was taking a Keto MCT supplement which was contaminated with Roxadustat.

She was understandably livid as the situation came to light. The two-time grand slam champion went on to break all ties with Mouratoglou following his statement, and she has also wiped all trace of him from her Instagram profile.
