She tweeted “cman” along with four Emojis of the British flag. This simple but heartfelt message connected with fans who wanted the English women’s team to win.

Despite the strong support from Emma Raducanu and the hopes of the entire country, Spain emerged victorious. The turning point came when Olga Carmona scored in the first half, which made her the match winner.

It was a heartbreaking loss as the Lionesses were aiming to become the first senior English team to win a World Cup title since the men?s 1966. The team gave it all, and manager Sarina Wiegman did try to pull off a smart strategy. But Spain’s creative style of play was too formidable for the team.
