Emma Raducanu, who once lifted the Grand Slam trophy in New York, is currently sitting outside the top 200 rankings on the women’s tour. The British tennis star’s competitive journey has been hindered by her wrist and knee injuries, which also required surgeries and forced her into a lengthy hiatus. But now that she has made a return to the tour this new season, do you know what might be the former US Open champion’s main focus during her comeback phase?

According to her compatriot and British tennis veteran Laura Robson’s recent disclosures, ‘expectations aren’t on Raducanu’s results at the moment.’ While lauding the 21-year-old player for her performances in Australia, Robson revealed the ‘main focus’ for Raducanu after her injury woes.

This season, the former number 10 player was back at the Australian Open, as she started her campaign with a victory against her American opponent, Shelby Rogers. However, Emma Raducanu later faced a second-round defeat at the hands of Wang Yafan, who made a comeback after dropping the first set. Though she failed to make a significant impact in the major tournament, the 21-year-old showed some great signs on the court.

Notably, in an interview with the Telegraph, Laura Robson was singing the praise of her compatriot while she brought to light Raducanu’s main focus after her comeback. She said, “I was so positive coming out of Australia with how she was playing, Even if she plays in big tournaments, she will pick up wins because her level is there. The expectations aren’t on the results at the moment, it’s about focusing on her body and being as healthy as possible.”

She also said, “Nick offers her familiarity because they’ve known each other for so long and he understands what she wants to get out of her game.”  The Brit also lauded Iain Bates, who was on Raducanu’s support team for her 2021 US Open triumph, for playing a crucial part during her comeback phase.
