Billie Jean King shares shocking facts on Moms Equal Pay Day

Tennis legend Billie Jean King recently leveraged her Twitter platform to cast a spotlight on a pressing concern gripping women across America. She underscored a disconcerting reality: full-time working mothers are earning just 74 cents for every dollar earned by fathers, translating to an annual deficit of around $18,000.

King’s tweet resonates as a rallying cry for equitable compensation, paid parental leave, adequate sick days, and an array of supportive measures. She ardently advocates for fostering an environment that shuns passive gender biases and discriminatory practices.

“Today is #MomsEqualPayDay. In the U.S., FT working moms earn 74 cents for every dollar a father earns. The wage gap typically robs mothers working FT, year-round about $18K a year. We must support mothers in the workforce through fair pay, paid leave, paid sick days, & more.”

By pushing for fair treatment and better workplace conditions, King champions a future where mothers are empowered as indispensable contributors to the nation’s workforce and economic growth. Her call to action resounds as a crucial step toward achieving true gender parity in workplaces across the United States.
