Belarusian tennis star Aryna Sabalenka won her first Grand Slam title yesterday. With this, she also became the first neutral player to win the Grand Slam. Ever since the conflict between Russia and Ukraine started, players from Russia and Belarus are playing without their flags.

As per tradition, the winner’s name is engraved on the trophy before presenting it to them. While all of us have at a point in time thought about the artisan who does the job, a recent video explains how quickly they have to work.

The Belarusian tennis star was among the prominent players who missed out on the Wimbledon Championship because of a nationality based ban. She strongly condemned the move later. However, in the Australian Open, she finally clinched her first Grand Slam title.

How fast they get the winner’s name on the Australian open trophy from tennis

In the viral video, we can see that the artisan watches them play live on tv. As soon as Sabalenka hits the winning shot, he picks up the trophy. Within minutes, the artisan engraves her name on the trophy that she receives later.

Tennis fans went crazy as they saw the perfect last minute work. Here’s how they reacted.

“Wait, so he just free hands it?”

“Cant tell if someone is under the table.”

“I was shocked as well! Seems so risky!”

“Went on a tour this week, that room at the star tof the tournament is for the players to visit a podiatrist to look at their feet, but then becomes the engravers room for the end of the tournament.”

Referring to the first neutral player winning Australian Open, a fan wrote, “It helps that he didn’t have to write “(BLR)” lol. What’s been the longest last name they had to do?”

Another fan came up with a very valid question. “So what does this guy do for a job the rest of the year?”

And here’s the reply to the above query from another fan. “Probably engraves?”

What if a human error happens? No chance here probably. “Can a spelling mistake be undone? Say Jokovich instead of Djokovic…”
